Beaches, seashores and cliffs
Sicilian coasts are made by never-ending, flat and sandy beaches, or small seashores made of pebbles and cliffs; every site is characterized by different color blends such as: ochre, yellow, and grey, there are even beaches black lava colored.
The biggest cities provide well equipped beaches that strongly appeal to tourists, among them we can remember: Mondello the main beach of Palermo, characterized by its palm-trees and white sand, in which relevant sport events take place. The Playa of Catania, the coast of San Leone, just outside Agrigento or Fontane Bianche in Siracusa. Famous touristic sites or top beaches of minor islands are quite crowded during high season. These sites are known for the beauty of thin sand, that looks like talc powder, and for the blue colored sea that makes a perfect frame for a spectacular scenery.
The Tyrrhenian coasts are composed by astonishing beaches situated between Capo d'Orlando and Patti (Messina), San Vito Lo Capo (Trapani), the small caves of Castelluzzo and the natural reserve of the Zingaro, or long and beautiful beaches of Letojanni and Fiume Freddo, the suggestive beach of Isola Bella close to Taormina. Last but not least the blue colored sea of Cefal¨ that, with its beaches made of sand and pebbles, leaves tourists breathless.
